Terms & Conditions


Pricing and Payment:

• Our prices are in Icelandic Krona (ISK) and include Value Added Tax (VAT). Please note that banking fees are not included in the listed prices. Final invoice will include the price in EUR as well

Payment Condition for New Customers:

• For all new customers, the full payment amount for the requested services must be paid before the commencement of the service. This payment is non-refundable unless otherwise specified in the cancellation policy.

Accepted Payment Methods, Currency, and Payment Terms:

• We issue all invoices in Icelandic Krona (ISK) but accept payment in either ISK or EUR into our ISK or EUR bank account. The correct EUR amount, determined by the prevailing exchange rate at the time of payment, will be included in the issued ISK invoice.
• Bank Details for Payment: Bank transfer information will be provided on the invoice for your convenience.
• We accept the following payment methods:
• Bank Transfers: Payments can be made via bank transfer to the provided bank account details.
• Credit Card Payments: Credit card payments are accepted; however, please note that there is a 3% surcharge for credit card payments.
• Payment Terms:
• For returning and regular customers, invoices are payable within 15 days from the date of the invoice.
• Payment in cash during tour MUST be accpepted by the responsible account manager at Teitur before departure.
• Drivers do not negotiate or decide any payments but can take cash payment to deliver to Teitur if previously approved by relevant account manager at Teitur.
• The cash must be paid to the driver and the online cash receipt must be filled out with the driver duing the tour.

Booking Process for Group Itineraries:

• Inital request is quoted and sent via a weblink to the quote for approval. This quote is based on the current information provided to us and is subject to change should the services change before departure.
• Upon receiving the final itinerary for the group, we will send you a proforma for your acceptance via an updated weblink. The group booking will be considered confirmed and reserved once you have accepted the quote by following the provided link.
• The driver report is checked after the group has finished the tour and should any services or add ons have occurred during the tour that has affected the price, either up or down, results in an updated proforma for approval after which the final invoice will be sent.

Included Services:

• The day rate includes 330 kilometers on average per full LDC day. The LDC day rate includes a maximum of 10 hours of driver service. The driver's work hours are from either 08:00 to 18:00 or 09:00 to 19:00 or any 10 hours during this time period. We charge extra hours in 30 min intervals before 8 and after 19. Operating after 19:00 will result in extra hour charge even if full 10 hours are not used

Not included in the services:

• Extra hours will be charged when the service exceeds the maximum duration included for each service
• Extra driven kilometers
• Driver Accommodation and Meals outside of Reykjavík:
• It is the responsibility of the client to book and provide the driver with private accommodation with private bathroom facitilites and three meals per day when the tour takes place outside the Reykjavík area.
• Parking and Service fees applied by the relevant authorities in Iceland and invoiced through Teitur

 

Red day holiday surcharge:

On red days we charge extra 30% surcharge for all services on that day.
Red Days in Iceland each year:

  • New Years Day
  • Good Friday
  • Easter Sunday
  • Dec. 24th
  • Christmas Day
  • Dec. 31st


Vehicle Size and Luggage

When choosing a vehicle size all luggage must fit into the vehicles luggage compartment.
All vehicles have +1 seat for guides.

  • Max 14 pax in 19s. Up to 19 pax in day tours without luggae
  • Max 32 pax in 39s.
  • 49 pax in 49s.
  • 57 pax in 57s
  • 69 pax in 69s. 

   
Cancellation Policy:

• Cancellations made 60 days or more before departure during the period of 1.5-30.9 and 30 days or more before departure during the period of 1.10-30.4 are free of charge
• A 100% cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations made within the above periods unless additional time has been approved by Teitur. This only applies per group and not in general.


Landmannalaugar Surcharge:

• An extra Landmannalaugar surcharge fee will be applied for day tours into Landmannalaugar during a multi-day tour that does not use a highland bus for other days.
• The full Long Distance Coach (LDC) price for the regular coach will also be charged for the same day.
Other highland conditions
• We only offer Þórsmörk tours as part of multi-day tours that use a highland coach for the entire duration. No day tours to Þórsmörk are available.
• In case of high water levels in Þórsmörk‘s rivers, heavy rain, or a forecast of rain, we will assess conditions and may cancel the tour.
• We do not go into Askja
• We do not drive over Sprengisandur
• All other highland roads ar subject to approval of itinerary.


Unforeseen Circumstances:

• In the event of severe weather, bad road conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to change or cancel some or all driving while the conditions persist.
• No compensation will be provided for the cancellation of some or all driving due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

Safety First

• At Teitur, passenger safety is our top priority. We adhere to strict safety standards in cooperation with road authorities, considering factors such as storms, heavy snowfall, strong winds, road closures, and hazardous conditions like ice.
• Teitur has stricter standards than the National Transport Authority regarding wind precaution thresholds for large vehicles. We will wait if wind gusts exceed 25 m/s and the drivers will seek head office advice if gusts exceed 23 m/s.
• Please note that even if roads are open to specially equipped or smaller vehicles, they may still be unsafe for larger ones. We reserve the right to determine when travel is safe.
• Teitur is not responsible for any cancellations, delays, or disruptions to booked activitiescaused by adverse weather conditions.


Luggage liability:

• Passengers are responsible for ensuring their luggage is securely packed and durable enough for normal handling during transport.
• The company is not liable for normal wear and tear, including minor scratches, dents, or scuffs.
• The company is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged luggage unless the damage results directly from gross negligence or misconduct by company staff.
• Any luggage damage or loss must be reported immediately to the driver and the tours account manager from Teitur.
• Claims should be made to Teitur before any refunds are paid to passengers by the tour operator.


Gratuity/Tips for drivers/guides:

• Teitur is not involved in handling tips or gratuities for drivers or guides.
• Tipping is not required by us or generally expected in Iceland.
• Tips are entirely optional for passengers.
• Tips cannot be added to the invoice.
• Teitur does not provide any guidelines on tipping amounts.
